Movement Snacks: Resolutions vs priorities
|
Hey Reader, Happy 2026! We're just 4 days into a new year and I'm not really interested in hearing about new year's resolutions. I am, however, really curious about what you want to prioritize in the days, weeks, and months ahead. There is a difference between a new year's resolution and a priority. (This leads me to my Movement Snack this week) Movement Snack this week: A new year's resolution is something you're kind of trying out. You like the idea of adopting a new habit or changing a behavior. Resolutions are a bit like a test drive. At this point I think a lot of people don't take them super seriously. Priorities, on the other hand, are different. When you prioritize something, you are indicating it's important. You are interested in committing to it regularly and fully. I'm going to write more about priorities in an upcoming on my substack, as well as touch on what makes a new practice become a habit that actually sticks, in an article for Fit Bottomed Girls that will be published mid-January. For now, I'd love to know what you are prioritizing in this new year. If you tell me something(s) you are prioritizing in 2026, I'll share a few things I am prioritizing in 2026! I look forward to hearing from you. LAST CHANCE FOR WINTER RETREAT: JANUARY 16-18 2026 In case you haven't heard, this is the final year that I am offering my annual Winter Retreat. If you want to join me on retreat and start the year on your mat, in the woods, and with the best community of people, there are still a few spaces left. I would love to fill those spaces and conclude this chapter with warmth, connection, and community. If you've never attended, here's what to expect: I combine yoga and movement with writing exercises to help look back into the past year and step forward into the year to come. It's an all-levels retreat meaning that I'm not teaching high intensity/advanced movement practices. The idea is more to feel grounded and supported throughout the weekend. There is more information here. And if you know you want to join in, you can put your deposit down here Thanks for being a part of my community this year. I am so grateful for you. I hope that the year ahead is full of light and joy and ease. Warmly, Naomi Want to stay in touch during the week?
