Movement Snacks: Can you build strength with light weights and mini bands?
|
Hey Reader, A few weeks ago, someone asked to create a strength training video for my YouTube channel that only used light hand weights and mini bands. This isn't the first time I've received this request. I actually get it a lot. Part of it is that unless you're already pretty invested in strength training, if you have any strength equipment at home, it's going to be lighter weights and mini bands. They are more affordable at the outset and they're easier to store. There's also still a little lingering concern that heavier weights are potentially dangerous and lighter weights are safer. (This isn't true -- what makes something unsafe is how you use it, not how much it weighs, but I digress). In any event, I wanted to create something to honor this request and show that lighter hand weights and mini bands can be an important part of building strength. That leads me to my movement snack... I created a 3 exercise strength circuit using light hand weights and a mini band. This means you're doing the same 3 exercises 3 times through and with a 60 second rest in between each set of 3. This is because when it comes to building strength, repetition is important. That's why you'll rarely see me share a workout with 8 exercises you only do once. So, if you want to dive into a fun and still challenging workout with light hand weights and a mini band, watch it here: I am considering turning this into a video series for my YouTube channel. Would you have interest in a series on my YouTube channel that only uses light hand weights and mini bands? Please let me know by responding to this email!
