What's new in The Daily 5, Version 2.0?

Hey Reader,

Several years ago, I created a program called The Daily 5. Maybe you've heard of it. Maybe you've even participated in it!

It is a program I created to help make daily movement simpler and more accessible by offering a variety of 5-minute movement practices, delivered to your inbox every day for a month.

One of the biggest roadblocks to daily movement is feeling like there's not enough time, so I chipped away at that obstacle by reducing the workouts down to 5 minutes. This is lot more manageable than a 60 minute workout, which is what is often recommended as ideal for health benefits.

Ideal is relative. But that's a conversation for another email -- stay tuned!

Another obstacle is not knowing what to do when you only have 5 minutes. So I chipped away at that obstacle, too, by creating 28 workouts that will guide you through a simple 5 minute movement practice. No guessing involved!

All of this is actually the same in the new and improved version of the Daily 5. Here's what's different:

Better Strength Training Workouts
I created these new strength workouts with greater accessibility in mind. There are now more options for the strength exercises, for those who need modifications or adjustments. It's not perfect! Nothing is. And if you need further adjustments or modifications, you can ask me directly and I'll make you a video with different variations you can try.

Core-Specific Practices and Mobility-Specific Practices Added
I now have 4 new core-focused practices and 4 new mobility-focused practices. This is partially to have more clarity and consistency in the sequence of practices from one week to the next. It also felt important to separate these 2 types of movement out for their own practices, rather than trying to squeeze them into other workouts.

Mellower Movement Practices Offered
When I first created the Daily 5, I was trying to cram as much as I could in 5 minutes. And while I still have some yoga practices and bodyweight strength practices that are more dynamic and challenging, I wanted to have some yoga classes that are slower paced and grounding for balance.

Some Practices are 6 Minutes Long!
It's true. I decided to offer a little more instruction, particularly in the strength-focused classes and a few of the core classes. Only 1 practice is longer than 7 minutes (and only just).

Oh and instead of starting on the first of the month, we're starting on October 3rd! It's a Saturday and it felt like an easier start date than a Thursday (October 1st).

I am really proud of this new and improved Daily 5. I really believe in the power of consistency when it comes to movement. It's all about integrating movement into your life so that it's more than something you engage with casually, but something that is an important part of your life.

I think this new version of the Daily 5 will offer a smoother set of steps into daily movement and I'm excited for you to start!
