I believe 5 minutes makes a difference

Hey Reader,

Today I did a 30 minute workout of heavy lifting (back squats), some supplemental weight lifting, and impact training.

I'm working with a coach and she's programming all of it for me. I love it.

But working out for this amount of time is somewhat new for me.

For a long time, I found myself squeezing in 5-10 minute strength training practices because it's all I had the time or bandwidth for.

A lot of fitness pros will tell you this isn't enough when it comes to the amount of strength training (or any kind of movement) that you should do, but it worked for me.

And staying consistent with shorter strength training practices allowed me to slowly build strength so that when I could make more space, mentally and physically for more in depth training, I wasn't unprepared. I was ready.

This is why I created the DAILY 5.

I created this program for people who are pulled in many different directions and still want to move their bodies, even if just a little bit, because they know it makes a difference.

The important part is to lay the foundation of consistency with daily movement and giving yourself variety, so that you can see small (but significant) shifts even with shorter practices. And, you can see the possibility for more on the horizon.

One of the past participants of the DAILY 5 said this about her experience:

"5 minutes is such a genius length of time for these, as is the prompt to email after each practice -- very sneaky use of accountability and recognizing effort. It's also nice to see my tolerance increase the longer I stick with a habit. I used to enjoy being in the gym years ago and can see glimmers of that now again, which is exciting."

5 minutes can often do more than you might realize. 5 minutes can make a huge difference and pave the way for more, if and when you're ready.

Hey Reader, I've been working out hard lately. I started working with a coach who designs a week of fitness programming for me at a time -- and it's been incredible. Working with her has shifted the way I have been moving my body (more on that in a few weeks!) But it hasn't always been this way. In fact for the past 10 years or so, my movement practice has been consistent but brief. Some days I'd manage 30 minutes of movement, but others were closer to 10-15. Some days, I'd squeak out 5...

(not interested in the Daily 5? Scroll down a bit so you can opt-out of these Daily 5 specific promotional emails) Hey Reader, I want to tell you a bit about why I created the DAILY 5. As someone who loves to move her body, movement comes naturally to me. I don't have to convince myself to do it. Whether I'm lifting weights or doing yoga or taking a dance class or going for a run, I love to move. But after I had kids, what I found difficult was making the same space for movement that I had...
